Kick Off Thumbs.db from Your PC

Windows XP automatically generates the Thumbs.db system file when the user views the data in Thumbnail or Filmstrip view. Thumbs.db contains a copy of each of the tiny preview images generated for image files in that folder so that they load up quickly the next time you browse that folder.

Even though it comes as a system file it would create a sense of disturbance for the user. Even if the user deletes it would continue to come again and again and would mess with the user. To stop this

Go to the My Computer
and ….

• Click the Tools option.

• Choose the Folder Options..

Now.. select the View Tab and then

• Click the ‘Do no cache Thumbnails’ check box.

Then click on Apply and then Ok.

Now onwards if the user finds the Thumbs.db in the folder in Thumbnail or Filmstrip view, he may delete just once and that would not return else more.
